The Golden State Warriors head to Madison Square Garden to test the red-hot New York Knicks on Tuesday night.

Golden State will be playing without Steph Curry once again as he continues to deal with an injury. In their first game without Curry, it was Jordan Poole who scored a career-best 43 points to lead the Warriors to victory over the Toronto Raptors. The Dubs are 15-16 SU on the season and they are in 4th place in the Pacific Division and just one game off the 10th seed in the Western Conference.

New York is the hottest team in the NBA with 7 consecutive wins. The Knicks are coming off a 109-106 win over the Pacers last Sunday and it was only their second win during this run that was by a winning margin of below 10 points. The Knicks are playing their best basketball of the season and are tied with the Philadelphia 76ers for 5th place in the Eastern Conference.

Golden State Warriors

Golden State won their first game without Steph Curry. The Dubs defeated the Toronto Raptors 126-110 behind a career-high 43 points from Jordan Poole. Draymond Green and Klay Thompson each scored 17 points to help the team win for only the third time on the road this season. Kevon Looney also contributed a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The Dubs are just 3-14 SU on the road this season and prior to Sunday, their last road win was November 27 in Minnesota. With Curry expected to miss at least the next two weeks, Poole will have to continue to put up big numbers if the Warriors want to continue winning games.

They are scoring 117.3 points per game this season while grabbing 43.1 rebounds per contest and issuing 29.4 dimes per outing.

New York Knicks

The Knicks are on a roll right now and they have won their last seven games played. This marks the team’s longest winning streak since the end of the 2021-22 season when they won 9 in a row. New York has moved to 17-13 SU on the season and they are tied with the Sixers for the 5th-best record in the Eastern Conference.

Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 30 against the Pacers in their most recent assignment. Julius Randle scored 25 and grabbed 14 rebounds while making clutch free throws down the stretch. RJ Barrett also contributed 24 points in the win.

Randle and Barrett have been the key to this winning run. Randle is putting up 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in his last six games. Barrett has also averaged 22 points and 6.8 rebounds per game during that span. New York’s defense has been solid since December 4th as they have allowed just 97 points per game.

Golden State has moved to within one game of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the race for the 10th spot in the Western Conference. The defending champions should be hungry here. However, the Knicks may be too good defensively for a team without its top scorer and leader.

Golden State defeated Toronto in its first game without Curry. In that game, Jordan Poole scored a career-high 43 points. Poole needs to have another big game here for the Warriors to have a chance at beating the Knicks.

The Warriors lead the league in pace but that was mainly because of Steph Curry. Without their two-time MVP, the Dubs look like a different team. Sure, they can still be a high-scoring team if the likes of Poole and Thompson but the Knicks have been pretty solid on defense.

Since December 4, the Knicks have had the best scoring defense in the NBA at 97 points per game allowed. They are a slow team and rank just 16th in pace. New York has allowed 102 or fewer points five times during their current winning run. They should be able to control this game by playing to their strengths. This one should be a low-scoring game.
