Biggest Betting Events of 2019 — June and July

In our last installment of ‘Biggest Betting Events of 2019’, we went over both months of April and May — and they’re filled with high-stakes action.

With the month of April, we would cover events such as the NFL Draft, the NBA Playoffs Conference Semifinals, the Champions League Semi-Finals (1st Leg), and we even got into the Betfred World Snooker Championships and the Formula 1 Azerbaijani Grand Prix Baku City Circuit.

The next month in May, things get a little more intense with events such as both the NBA Conference Finals and NBA Finals, and the Champion’s League also has their last installment of the Semi-Finals before the Final round. In other soccer, you also have two more championships up for grabs with both the Europa League Final and the FA Cup Final. If all that couldn’t get intense enough, you also have the 101st PGA Championship and the Kentucky Derby. And speaking of the Derby, we also have The Preakness Stakes just a couple of weeks after. In tennis, we have the French Open (Roland-Garros) that’s held from May 26 through June 9. And if that wasn’t enough, the prestigious Indianapolis 500 is also held in May.

Now we get to June and July, where things slow down in the sports world a little bit. But don’t worry, there’s still plenty of opportunities to make a solid buck.

JUNE

NBA DRAFT | JUNE 20

The NBA Draft Lottery isn’t held until May 14, so we obviously won’t know until then the order of the picks. Coming into the draft, the Knicks (+450), Cavaliers (+450) and Suns (+450) all have the worst records and will battle it out over the Top 3. And we already know who will be the No. 1 pick: Zion Williamson of Duke University. Right now, you can place wagers on which team will have him. After the previous three, it’s the Bulls at +600 and the Hawks at +700.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL | JUNE 1

The biggest and most prestigious tournament in the world of soccer comes to a close in June, and you can believe the intensity will be real. This year’s Final will be hosted in Madrid, and the four remaining teams are Tottenham Hotspur, Ajax, Barcelona, and Liverpool. Go ahead and place your bet for a winner now before the numbers get less profitable. Here are the current odds to win: Barcelona (6/4), Liverpool (5/2), Ajax (7/2) and Tottenham Hotspur (4/1).

U.S. OPEN (GOLF) | JUNE 13-16

The U.S. Open is one of the four major championships in the sport of golf, and is the annual national championship for the United States of America. After the PGA Tour, the U.S. Open is also featured on the schedules of the European Tour and the Japan Golf Tour. The defending U.S. Open champion for the PGA Tour is Brooks Koepa. For this event, there are tons of different ways to place a wager — starting with the outright winner.

The current favorites are: Tiger Woods (9/1), Dustin Johnson (21/2), Rory McIlroy (25/2) and Brooks Koepka (16/1).

BELMONT STAKES | JUNE 7-9

After the Kentucky Derby and The Preakness Stakes, we have the Belmont Stakes being held in early June. These Belmont Stakes are referred to as “The Third Jewel of the Triple Crown”, “The Test of the Champion” and “The Run for the Carnations”. And not only is it the final race of the United States Triple Crown, but it’s also the longest race of the three. The odds obviously aren’t out as of yet due to the Kentucky Derby and The Preakness Stakes not happening yet, but this is certainly an event where you can make a stack of cash.

THE ROYAL ASCOT | JUNE 18-22

In other horse racing action, we have the Royal Ascot, the centerpiece of Ascot Racecourse’s schedule. One of the most prestigious horse races in the world, the race was founded back in 1711 and by Queen Anne. The entire week of the Royal Ascot is so prestigious that even modern-day monarchy Queen Elizabeth II and others from the British Royal Family attend everyday, and do so in a horse-drawn carriage.

The current odds for the biggest race, the Ascot Gold Cup, are:

  • 1. Stradivarius (9/4)
  • 2. Cross Counter (5/1)
  • 3. Capri (6/1)
  • 4. Magic Circle (8/1)

24 HOURS OF LE MANS | JUNE 15-16

One of the most prestigious races in the world, it is also the world’s oldest active sports car race held every year since 1923, and it’s hosted near the town of Le Mans, France. In the race, drivers compete to see who can complete the most laps within 24 hours. The current odds aren’t out as of yet, as they’re only released a couple of weeks before the race, but there’s multiple ways to place a wager on this prestigious race: Futures, Outright Winner, Top Three Finish, Head to Head Matchup, Prop Bets and Live Betting. In other words, cash is heavy here.

YANKEES VS. RED SOX – LONDON | JUNE 29-30

Just like you can make daily game picks with the Major League Baseball schedule all year long, you can also place a wager on this special series — one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports, the New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox, will be squaring off in London, England from June 29-30. With the excitement and national television coverage in the United States, this series is sure to bring a lot of bets, which means heavy payouts if you place the right wager. Yankees-Red Sox… It’s only right that it’s this way.

FORMULA 1 CANADIAN GRAND PRIX CIRCUIT GILLES VILLENEUVE | JUNE 7-9

The Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve brings prestige, ratings and high wagers. Check this out: In 2005, the Canadian Grand Prix got such high ratings that it was the third most watched event in the sports realm, placing behind just Super Bowl XXXIX and the UEFA Champions League Final. Pretty impressive. This race also has history on the championship circuit, being held since 1967 as apart of the Formula One World Championship. You can expect the odds for this race to be out near the end of May — possibly in the middle.

FORMULA 1 FRENCH GRAND PRIX PAUL RICARD | JUNE 21-23

Held at the Circuit Paul Ricard, the Formula 1 French Grand Prix is one of the oldest motor races in the world, and is the first “Grand Prix”. And here’s some history for you if you’re not an F1 fan: The French Grand Prix actually ceased operation in 2008 after hosting 86 races, and it wasn’t brought back on to the calendar since last year. Another fascinating tidbit about the history of the French Grand Prix is that it’s also been held at 16 different venues, the second most in history. Plenty of prestige, plenty of payout. Odds come out two weeks before the race.

FORMULA 1 AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX RED BULL RING | JUNE 28-30

Also coming with prestige and payout, the Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix at Red Bull Ring has been on a consistent streak of activity and inactivity. The race was held in 1964, 1970-1987 and 1997-2003. It was then brought back to the Formula 1 schedule in 2014 and has been ran ever since. You can thank the owners of Red Bull GmbH who reached an agreement with Bernie Ecclestone, this to revive the Austrian Grand Prix after being away from the F1 for 10 years. Just like all Formula 1 races, you can expect the odds to be out two weeks before the race.

65TH KPMG WOMEN’S PGA CHAMPIONSHIP | JUNE 20-23

There’s plenty of ‘prestige and payout’ to go along with this event as well, being the second-longest running golf tournament in the Ladies Professional Golf Association — the U.S. Women’s Open is the only event on the tour that surpasses the Women’s PGA Championship. And here’s another big thing: It is one of the five majors that are featured on the LPGA Tour, though like the other three majors in the United States, it is not recognized as a major by the Ladies European Tour. The odds for this event should be out some time in June.

MULTIGP INTERNATIONAL OPEN (DRONE RACING) | JUNE 26-30

This should be a pretty fun event to place a wager on, I mean, seriously, who wouldn’t find drone racing fun? This event, as well as the league of MultiGP, is fairly new being founded in just 2015. Headquartered in Palm Bay in the state of Florida, MultiGP has over 14,000 members and 544 chapters all across the world. Currently, in 2019, the league has been involved with over 10,000 races now over the planet. With drone racing being considerably new, the gambling around the sport is still being worked out, but be certain that the odds will be out in June.

PIKES PEAK HILL CLIMB | JUNE 30

Officially known as the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, or PPIHC for short, this event is both an automobile and motorcycle race — hill climb version. The yearly event is held from the beginning at Mile 7 on Pikes Peak Highway, and finishes out at 14,110 feet above the ground. For gamblers, there will be plenty of opportunities to make a buck as there are multiple classes in both the fields of automobiles and motorcycles. You can expect some odds to start being released in June for this event. Plenty of fun here to place multiple wagers.

JULY

BRITISH OPEN | JULY 18-21

The British Open is one of the four major championships on the PGA Tour, and is the final of the season. And not just that, but this event is also held on the European Tour and the Japan Golf Tour. With that being said, the prestige is sure to bring a lot of payouts if you have a winning bet.

Here are the current odds as they stand:

  • 1. Tiger Woods (8/1)
  • 2. Rory McIlroy (9/1)
  • 3. Dustin Johnson (14/1)
  • 4. Justin Rose (14/1)
  • 5. Brooks Koepka (14/1)
  • 6. Francesco Molinari (16/1)
  • 7. Jordan Spieth (16/1)
  • 8. Rickie Fowler (18/1)
  • 9. Jon Rahm (20/1)

THE CHAMPIONSHIPS, WIMBLEDON | JULY 1-14

Wimbledon is a classical crown jewel to every tennis player, and is the key stone to an ultimate legacy in one’s career — and not just that, but the payout is nice to the winner. 34 million Euros is the prize money for the tournament. And here’s another couple of tidbits for you: Wimbledon is both the oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament in the world, so you know the bets will be in full force for this event.

Here are the current odds:

  • 1. Novak Djokovic (13/8)
  • 2. Roger Federer (10/3)
  • 3. Rafael Nadal (11/2)
  • 4. Alexander Zverev (11/1)
  • 5. Marin Cilic (11/1)

FORMULA 1 BRITISH GRAND PRIX SILVERSTONE | JULY 12-14

For 69 consecutive years, the Formula 1 British Grand Prix has been ran as a World Championship event. And for 52 years now, it’s been held at Silverstone Circuit located near the village of Silverstone in Northampton in the country of England. And not just that, but it’s the oldest race on the Formula One calendar, and it was actually round one of the first championship season, taking place in 1950. Along with the Italian Grand Prix, this race is also the only one to be held every season. Odds for this race come out two weeks before.

FORMULA 1 GERMAN GRAND PRIX HOCKENHEIMRING | JULY 26-28

Since 1926, the Formula 1 German Grand Prix at Hockenheimring has held the most races with a total of 75 being held. The race has been held at three race courses in Germany throughout its history: the Nurburgring in Rhineland-Palatinate, Hockenheimring in Baden-Wurttemberg and every now and then at AVUS which is located near Berlin. Through both Nazi Germany and West Germany, the race continued to be known as the German Grand Prix, so the history (and prestige for payouts) is there. Odds will be out two weeks before the race.
