The Baltimore Ravens look to continue their winning ways when they head to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to take on the embattled Rams.
The Ravens head to Hollywood on the strength of six consecutive wins. Lamar Jackson and his offense have been unstoppable and Baltimore is getting better as each week passes. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Rams have disappointed and underperformed after representing the NFC Conference in last season’s Super Bowl. The Rams are three games behind the San Francisco 49ers for the division lead and are 2.5 games back of the Minnesota Vikings for the second wildcard spot.
The Baltimore Ravens are getting better as the season is progressing. Baltimore has won six straight games and they are coming off a 41-7 annihilation of the Houston Texans. The Ravens are 8-2 SU on the season and they are three games ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North.
Lamar Jackson has thrown for 2,258 passing yards with 19 touchdowns and five interceptions. But that’s not it. Jackson is also Baltimore’s leading rusher at 788 rushing yards with 6 touchdowns on 115 carries. Mark Andrews has caught 48 passes for 598 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the season.
Baltimore leads the NFL with 203.1 rushing yards per game and they are the top-scoring team in the league at 34.1 points per game scored. The Ravens are ranked 20th in passing at 225.5 yards per game and are allowing their opponents to score 19.6 points per game this season.
The Los Angeles Rams won the NFC West by three games last season with their 13-3 SU record. The Rams have underperformed this season as their offense hasn’t been as explosive and their defense has been very inconsistent. Los Angeles is three games off the division lead with their 6-4 SU record.
Jared Goff has passed for a total of 2,783 yards but he only has 11 touchdowns versus 10 interceptions. Todd Gurley has rushed for 525 yards with seven touchdowns on 129 carries while Cooper Kupp leads the Rams with 61 catches for 845 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
The Rams are tied for 7th in the league in passing at 268.9 yards per game. They are ranked 20th in rushing at 97.6 rushing yards per contest. Los Angeles is 12th overall in scoring at 24.3 points per game this season and they are giving up an average of 19.8 points per game.
Baltimore is 6-0 SU in their last six games played. The Ravens are 5-1 SU in their last six games played on the road. Los Angeles is 10-5 SU in their last 15 games played. The Rams are 3-2 SU in five home games played this season, and 10-2 SU in their last 12 games played against the AFC Conference. Head to head, the Ravens are 5-2 SU in their last seven games played against the Rams. However, Baltimore is only 2-4 SU in their last six road games against the Los Angeles Rams.
Lamar Jackson leads the NFL’s highest-scoring offense. The second-year quarterback is getting the job done with his arm and with his legs. Baltimore has averaged 34.3 points per game during this six-game winning streak and 42.3 points per game in their last three games played.
The Rams scored only 17 points against the Bears as they played without Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods. Coach McVay expects both Cooks and Woods to be back on Sunday but that isn’t a guarantee. Todd Gurley rushed for 133 yards with a touchdown the last time out. Gurley might get a bigger load this weekend to open up the passing game.
Baltimore has won six straight games and they are 10-2 SU in their last dozen games as NFL betting favorites. The Rams are 1-5 SU when hosting East Coast teams and are 0-3 SU in their last three games as home underdogs of 3.5 points or fewer. I don’t think the Rams defense can stop Lamar Jackson from doing his thing here.
PREDICTION: BALTIMORE RAVENS
The Ravens are 4-1 ATS in their last five games played. Baltimore is 3-1-1 ATS in five road games played this season. The Rams are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games played. Los Angeles is 3-2 ATS in five home games played this season and 10-2 SU in their last dozen games against the AFC Conference. Head to head, the Ravens are 2-0-1 ATS in their last three meetings against the Rams.
The Ravens have outscored the Rams by an average of 5 points per game in their last 10 meetings and 17.33 points per game in their last three encounters. The Ravens are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 road games while the Rams are 0-4 ATS in their last four games as home underdogs. The Rams’ offense isn’t what it was last year and even if Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods return on Monday, I’m not sure if the Los Angeles defense can slow down Lamar and his offense.
PREDICTION: RAVENS -3
The total has gone over in six out of the last 10 games played by Baltimore. The Ravens have seen the total go over in four out of their five road games this season. The under is 5-1 in their last six games against the NFC Conference and the under is also 5-0 in their last five games against the NFC West division. The total has gone under in each of the last five games played by the Rams. The under is 4-1 in Los Angeles’ last five home games played. The total has gone over in six out of the last nine head to head meetings between the Ravens and Rams.
These teams have combined to score an average of 43.0 points per game in their last 10 head to head games played and 32.67 points per game in their most recent three meetings. The total has gone under in the Rams’ last five games with an average combined score of 32.2. But the Ravens are on fire and are scoring an average of 42.3 points per game in their last three games and at the rate, they are going, they aren’t slowing down soon.
