Super Bowl 53 Commercial Betting

It might be a little strange to consider commercials as part of the greatest sporting event in the world. However, when you think back through those years of Super Bowls you watched, you will probably remember at least one commercial. Over the years, many of the biggest stars in the world have featured in the Super Bowl commercial lineup on behalf of some of the world’s biggest brands.

It’s kind of been this way for a long time. Given that commercials – as we have established – are part of the Super Bowl, this means that there will be huge attention paid to them by a large number of folk tuning in for the game. Whether it is your aunt that pretends to like football, or grandma and her malapropisms whenever she tries to pronounce a player’s name (“oh gee, ain’t that Tom Bailey so handsome?”), there are some among us who enjoy the occasion more than anything.

And then, there are gamblers. Super Bowl 53 will be subject to billions of dollars in bets. Yes, there is the game and various markets to get involved in. Naturally. However, there are also a high number of prop markets floating around that are based on Super Bowl LIII commercials. Seriously! The best part is that many of these markets look attractive and pretty fun.

While there will be a number of commercials that will debut on Sunday, there are many that are already in the public domain. According to reports, CBS wants between $5.1 and $5.3 million for a standard 30-second commercial for any company looking to advertise on the summit of prime TV slots. To think that most of us reading this will not even make that in our lifetimes, that is a serious amount of money!

The Most Talked About Commercials

Before we look at some of the best bets you can place on Super Bowl 53 commercials, let’s first look at a number of the ads that are causing a buzz right now. These are the four commercials that have people talking ahead of the big kick-off.

*Spoiler alert*

“The Dude” Lebowski has a Drink with Sex and the City’s Carrie

If seeing Carrie Bradshaw and “The Dude” Lebowski sitting at the same table is a little odd, then consider yourself part of the crowd. I mean, what links these two characters? What could they possibly bond or share a common interest over? Well, the only thing that comes to mind is that their proclivity for choosing the same drink when heading to the bar.

Of course, this advert, which is Belgian lager company Stella Artois’ Super Bowl commercial, features Sarah Jessica Parker choosing another Cosmopolitan while Jeff Bridges opts for the same old order of a White Russian. Naturally, there is a twist, and it doesn’t take Perry Mason to figure out what it is. Both order… a Stella Artois instead. The company has linked up with Matt Damon’s nonprofit Water.org, which will see them donate money for clean running water for every beer they sell.

Steve Carell, Cardi B and Lil Jon Beef Up the Pepsi Super Bowl Commercial

If you have been in Atlanta this week, you will have seen the huge promotional drive that Pepsi has been embarking on this week. Perhaps the biggest rivalry in global soft drinks exists between Pepsi and Coca Cola, with the latter being based in Atlanta. Could Coca Cola feel as though Pepsi are stepping on their toes a little? Well, Pepsi certainly won’t care.

Steve Carell won’t, neither. The popular actor features in Pepsi’s Super Bowl commerical alongside pop star Cardi B and rapper Lil Jon. Another interesting combination of names, but yet, somehow, it kind of makes sense. I think.

Budweiser, Bob Dylan, Dogs, and Clydesdales

OK, now the weirdness of unlikely combinations has really stepped up a gear. In fact, if you removed the “Bob Dylan” part of that headline, you would be left with an arrangement of words that wouldn’t feel out of place one bit in a Bob Dylan song. Ironic? Maybe. Then again, Budweiser’s decision to use Dylan’s classic “Blowin’ in the Wind” to highlight their use of wind power to brew their beer isn’t one bit.

As for the Budweiser Clydesdales and the dogs? These guys are bound to get a lot of attention from the animal lovers tuning in to watch the Pats and the Rams go at it.

Tony Romo & Skechers

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and current CBS pundit, Tony Romo, has earned himself a reputation as something of a clairvoyant this season. However, during Skechers’ commercial shows off his “Romo Mode,” as he performs several activities in a smooth fashion.

Pringles Meets Technology?

In one of the weirdest ads of the year, Pringles features artificial intelligence lamenting its inability to taste the savory snacks. The humans’ response? Play “Funkytown.”

Commercial Betting on Super Bowl 53

For those who have their hearts set on betting on everything to do with Super Bowl 53 commercials, we have you covered. Having looked through a number of markets on Super Bowl commercial betting, these are the ones that certainly standout as worth a punt. If you have a few extra dollars and fancy your chances, why not take a look over these odds?
Please Note: Please note: These odds apply to CBS Broadcast Only and run from kickoff to the game’s end. The odds below are all courtesy of Bovada and all odds are correct as of January 30, 2019

How Many Commercials Will Run During the Super Bowl?

  • Over 96 -120
  • Under 96 -120

As previously mentioned, getting a commercial slot on the biggest sports event in America is a big deal to companies. Now, will the incredible amount of money that is required by CBS in order to air these commercials drive down the number of business looking to showcase their products and services to the nation? There should be a bet in that. Well, in fact, there is.

As you can see from the odds above, Bovada believes that this one is just too tough to call. If you bet that there will be over 96 commercials running during the Super Bowl, you will get odds of -120. If you think over 96 is a little bit of a push, a bet on under 96 comes in at the same odds (-120).

So, what’s it going to be?

Which Commercial Will Appear First?

  • Turkish Airlines -450
  • WeatherTech +275

Moving on, this bet is one that focuses on a little battle for supremacy between Turkish Airlines and WeatherTech. Well, at least, what company’s advert airs first to the nation. Turkish Airlines is strongly favored to make the first appearance, coming in at odds of -450. WeatherTech, on the other hand, is very nicely priced at +275 ahead of the game.

These types of bets are like head-to-heads in a race. They can be very fun and very satisfying to watch. However, if you are keen on using the bathroom every time there is a commercial break, you might want to ask someone to watch out for what advert comes first in your absence.

Which Commercial Will Appear First?

  • Expensify -150
  • TurboTax (Intuit) +110

Much like the previous market, this one is a battle between Expensify and TurboTax (Intuit). This time, the odds are not as far apart, with the former company coming in at a reasonable -150 while TurboTax trails behind with a modest +110. At times like these, when you must essentially engage in a “pick ’em” of sorts, TurboTax could be worth a punt?

Unless you have ties to Expensify – or some secret betting knowledge that you definitely do not want to share with the rest of us – it’s almost 50/50 as to who will get there first.

Which Commercial Will Appear First?

  • Avocados From Mexico -120
  • Planters (Kraft Heinz) -120

If you thought the previous odds were tight, these two are identical.  Avocados From Mexico and Planters (Kraft Heinz) are neck and neck here at -120, meaning that it is truly anyone’s guess.

So, who do you like more, Avocados From Mexico or Planters? Will it influence your bet?

Which Commercial Will Appear First?

  • Doritos -250
  • Pringles +170

Ah, finally. A bet that packs a bit more crunch…

Well, tremendously awful puns aside, this bet is one that is likely to attract some of the snack lovers among us. Doritos is the brand favored to show up first on our TV screens on Sunday, and the odds of -250 seems to back that up pretty nicely. However, Pringles are not exactly trailing too far behind in terms of odds and could pull this one off at decent odds of +170.

If you win this one, I guess you could savor the moment, right? (OK, no more bad puns, I promise).

Which Commercial Will Appear First?

  • Pepsi -150
  • Bubly +110

Bubly has really taken off over the past few years while Pepsi has been there, done it, and worn the t-shirt. You know, this one certainly does remind me a little of the battle between the Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady and the Rams’ QB Jared Goff. NFL’s Elder Statesman vs. the bright and bubbly (sorry, I did promise no more puns) up and comer is one of the big subplots of this game, and this bet isn’t too far off in terms of context.

Som will Pepsi – who come in at -150 – show up first or will we see the charge of Bubly at +110 beat them to the punch? What do you think?

Which Commercial Will Appear First?

  • Audi -180
  • Kia +140

If it comes down to a race, Audi appears to be the better bet. That is the opinion of oddsmakers over at Bovada. The German auto manufacturing giant is priced at -180 to eclipse their South Korean rivals, Kia, who come in at a decent price of +140. As I promised above, there are to be no more puns here – and as much as it would be easy to do so with two car manufacturers – I’ll stay in lane and keep my hands on the wheel…

Regardless of who you prefer, this bet is another that looks difficult to predict. Audi has their noses out in front, but it’s far from a done deal, that’s for sure.

Which Commercial Will Appear First?

  • Hyundai -230
  • Mercedes-Benz +160

Another battle between car manufacturers. Hold on, this is actually another battle between a German and South Korean car manufacturer. How awesome is that? In terms of odds, this one has gone the other way when compared to Audi vs. Kia, with the Koreans priced as favorites in this little battle at -230. Mercedes-Benz is the outsider, at +160, but only just.

This one will certainly keep car lovers glued to the TV during the commercial breaks.

Which Commercial Will Appear First?

  • Budweiser (+200)
  • Bud Light (-105)
  • Stella Artois (+550)
  • Michelob Ultra (+550)
  • Bon & Viv SpikedSeltzer (+550)

Now, for the battle of the beverages. This one is not so much a head-to-head as a “Royal Rumble” of Super Bowl commercial-betting experiences. For a start, the Budweiser brand features twice here – with Budweiser and Bud Light – and both are at the top of the pile. Budweiser is the favorite to air first – with the Bob Dylan, horse, and dog-inspired ad. However, this is far from a guarantee.

Will it be Bud Light at -105? Stella Artois’ Jeff Bridges and Sarah Jessica Parker feature is priced at +550, which are great odds if you consider just how much attention that particular commercial has picked up over the past few days. Michelob Ultra, featuring ‘Big Little Lies’ star Zoe Kravitz is +550, while Bon & Viv SpikedSeltzer rounds things up (also) at +550.

This one stands out as a great chance to pick up a few extra dollars, given the long odds on Stella Artois, in particular. It looks likely that Budweiser will feature first – as it usually does – but anything can happen, right?

Final Thoughts

So, there you have it. Commercial betting on the Super Bowl isn’t as odd as you probably would have thought, initially. There are some really strong bets over at Bovada, so be sure to check them out ahead of the big game.

There are many advantages to betting this way. While your dad, brothers, uncles, or buddies might be betting on the moneyline, or trying to cover the spread, an injury or poor decision could lead to them losing their bets. The great thing about commercial betting is that there are no injuries or unfortunate incidents that will get in the way of your bets working out as you might like them to. The commercials have been filmed and will air.

With everything else going on in the lead up to the game, maybe a couple of wagers – on bets like those we showcased above – might work out to be profitable.
